Taking apart the entire front end of my car, on the lower control arms, does the mounting bolt come out? can the bushing be replaced? Does anybody offer new strut rods? |

All bushings can be replaced. I just bought a kit for the suspension from Summit from energy suspension. $121 for kit includes all bnushing. Strut rods are sold also thru summit from Energy suspension. Year one also sells them. |

The "mounting bolt" ? Do you mean the stub shaft that points toward the front of the car, and has the "socket" for the torsion bar on the other side of the control arm? If so, yes it does come out. You'll need a press and appropriate "extras" to press it out. You'll then have to carefully remove the inner bushing shell from the shaft, then cut/grind/burn/dig the rest of the rubber out of the control arm. Once the rubber is out, you'll have to (again) manage to get the outer steel shell of the bushing out of the control arm. THEN you can press in a nice new bushing. (I've been advised to press the stub shaft into the new bushing, then press the shaft/bushing assy. into the control arm.) Be aware....if you are wanting to go with poly bushings, they don't fit quite correctly on that stub shaft. There is a step on it that the poly bushings don't duplicate. There is, however, an "unstepped" stub available for poly bushing use. Roger |
