One of the most common ratios behind the 3spd manual tranny is 3.23...some other's were offered, but at least two standard rear ratio formula's for rear ratio's are 3spd manual gets 3.23's 90% of the time, and automatic cars get 2.76's 95% of the time... You can always jack up the rear and rotate the tire and count driveshaft revolutions/ vice-versa too... -D.Idiot |

Thanks DI, I would jack it up and check myself but the car is 125 miles away from me at the moment. The reason I was asking was that with my 60 Valiant only 2 ratios were offered(3.55 and 3.21) and was wndering if more ratios had been offered by 63. Thanks again. HyperValiant |

My 65 brochure lists 2.9, 3.2, 3.5 as the only Dart gear ratios. I'd put money on it being 3.2; never seen a 2.9 behind a 170, and usually 3.5 only behind hi-po engines (Commando). BTW I'm trying to find someone to split a set of 4.10s with me (buy two, get good price deal)... |

DB, I'd get in on the 4.10 deal if Sure Grips were readily available. Cecil |

What kind of price can we get on the 4.10's for a 7 1/4? If the price is right I would be interested. |

http://www.slantsix.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=9285 Randy's sent a flyer about an "overstock clearance sale". Limited time, quantity, blather, blather. 7 1/4 4.10 new ring and pinion $126+S&H 8 1/4 3.55 " " " " $143 " 8 1/4 3.73 " " " " $189 " 8 3/4 3.73 489 case $101 " 8 3/4 3.90 489 case $101 " 8 1/4 2.56&up 27 spline 96&older Dana S/G $146+S&H minimum order = 2 per part # Sorry, no 7 1/4 SG units available. I need one 4.10 set, and I can order whatever else at the same time. These prices are probably good for wholesale customers only; I'm probably not the only one here who is. I haven't checked to see what they are retail. |

Do they have to be two of the same type and ratio? |

I'm interested in the 4.10 for the 7 1/4 rear. I have a couple housings, and recently picked up another suregrip unit. However, I need to wait untill after the holiday weekend, to see if the budget will allow it. |

JohnnyDees, as long as two of each part number are ordered, they'll be happy. If you don't need two identical sets (most of us don't), find someone who wants one and split them. "Offer Expires 5/31/04" Since I'm buying wholesale, I'll have to charge sales tax I think Price starting to rise... |

I called to order the 7 1/4 gears, but they said they were out of the Yukon Gear sets. He offered a set from Value Gear, whom I've never heard of. He was willing to sell one set at that price, and gave me the option of ordering more at that price if the first set is satisfactory It came today, and they look ok, no obvious defects, only time will tell how they hold up. Should wake up my 170 nicely! |
