Post subject:  lowering slightly the nose of a 65 D100 stepside

Is there a practical way to lower the front end of my 65 D100 shortbox stepside? I only want to drop it 2 inches or so, not the axle but the nose itself so as to lessen the gap between the top of the tire and the fender opening.
Any way to improve the ride and handling while I'm at it?
Is there an easy way to add power steering?
Thanks for any help you can offer.

If the front springs are mounted below the axle you should be able to use lowering blocks to lower the front end. Just be careful when you do this, to low and you will but a crease in the oil pan.

the springs are mounted above the axle, it looks like that is the stock location. Any other ideas?

Remove a spring leaf, rearch the current springs. Investigate the possiblity of creating a "dropped" axle.

Trying to remember the orientation of the shackle on the front springs...but either lengthen or shorten them to lift/raise the nose of the truck. You could also relocate the spring & shackle mounts up higher on the frame.

Be sure to check the steering components for clearance before you start moving things though...
