I'm currently building a /6 with the 198 rods and am not completely sure what options there is for the 2.2L pistons. The only ones i've seen are the kb268 and the kb239. What other options are there out there? Thanks.

I got a set of Silvolite 1291H's during a 'liquidation sale'...according to the enclosed store receipt it cost him $328 for a set of 6....

According to my 'calcs' on the block I currently have, I can install them with the 198 rods and install a stock head on it and come out with 'stock compression'.....

The Silvolite 1290 also works and gives a little more compression.
See the stroking article for more info

Trouble is that many of the piston makers have dropped SL6 and 2.2 pistons from their listings, you will need to call around to see what is still available in a 2.2 piston.

Federal Mogul currently makes direct replacement forged slugs for the slant. I got mine for $75 apiece. They are for the industrial slant application.

I really should call my rebuilder and write the part number down.

Exsqueeze me!? You were charged $75 bucks FOR EACH PISTON? Holy cow....there two different aftermarket mfgrs that still list an NHRA legal stock forged piston for that kind of money.

That was probably $75 canadian...

If you need forged slugs you can call Cox Brothers, they have some nice Venolia ones. As for the stroker situation, that gets limited, but as new imports come out, the real adventure is finding something newer that will work...

What are some good sources to check for new pistons? I don't really know of any companies that make pistons. Any good places to start looking?

Call these guys and ask about a 2.2L forged piston.
