well, lets see what the next step in my saga of the 100,000 mile stockslant six can do. the car is a 74 swinger with 2.76 open gears and a 24 inch non sticky radials. i have added super six pkg with aluminum intake, mopar performance header, k&n filter in stock air cleaner. stock carter carb has been jetted up some as the plugs were a bit lean. car has gone a best of 18.44 from the beginnings of 20.50, runs so far average of 18.60's. so my next step is to see what a bigger exahust will do. my previous system was still using the stock 1 7/8" pipe off the header -(i wanted to see what the change to the header alone made) -into a 2 1/4" flowmaster 2 chamber into a 2" stock 340 dart lt replacement tailpipe--dont aske--its what i had around. the upgrade for now is a 2.5" pipe off the header to the same for now, muffler tailpipe arrangement. im hoping it'll give me a bit more, and i will pick up a 2.5" tailpipe from acuratte ltd at carlisle this weekend and change the muffler later also. im racing again wed night before i leave for carlisle on thursday, so i will post my findings of the head pipe change when i get back. --chad |
