I got some Mopar Heat Riser Solvent(4318039) today, and sprayed it on my heat riser, it seams

Pre-70's heat risers are suppose to be close(all the way counter clock wise) when the car is fully warmed up correct?

Mine doesn't seam to do this, it does move with throttle. I pulled the counter-weight and the spring off, and after playing with it, the spring seams to have been 180degs off. Thus applying to much force to keep it open. I wonder if it came from the factory like this? I am assuming on a nice hot day w/ engine cool there should be barely enough spring force to hold it open?

On the back side of the manifold there seams to be a spring missing that attaches to the heat riser shaft, and to a post that is in the manifold. I looked on my 77 and it has this spring. What does this spring do, and should I have one? Anyone have a pic of the back side of the manifold of a Pre-70's manifold what this spring looks like?

They're supposed to have a little tension even when warmed up, per the service manual. I wire mine open during the summer months. The small spring is an anti-rattle spring.
