Anybody know anyone who makes quality replacement dash gauge panel inserts?
Our stock one looks like you know what and the see-thru plastic is old and faded.
Would like to put in a custom-looking panel with either VDO or Auto Meter gauges.
Has anyone tried Dolphin gauges?
I talked to a company in the LA area yesterday--www.redlinegaugeworks.com--who make a carbon fiber replacement for $110.00.
Anybody know of a better deal or product?

Have posted before about our leaking Duster.
I put in the Schmacher wiper pivot seals and had the guy recaulk the new windshiled gasket and it passed the water test!!!!
I also found out when I pulled the dash panel that I could have installed the driver's side wiper pivot seals a LOT easier by pulling the dash gauge panel instead of working upside down under the dash. Oh well. . .

I also have a 74 duster in which my gauges are in bad shape and would like to do in after market type. I looked at the web site for redline and yipes nothing wrong with trying to make a few bucks but what they are doing is just plain robbery. The price I saw was alittle over $100.00 bucks for abs plastic. I can tell you for a fact they don't have $10.00 bucks in the whole pc including labor and read alittle more careful it's not carbon fiber but plastic that looks like carbon.

The Feb 2007 issue of Mopar Action has an article on installing new gauges and dash insert. They used Auto Meter gauges and a dash insert from rockymountaindashes.com . Looks pretty good -

yes I still make custom gauge panels, currently just for a-bodies (until I get a guinea pig from something else to test).

I have just completed RDJ's panel for him.

Basically I make new backing plates for the existing gauge clusters to fit whatever size and configuration of gauges you need. I can also "hollow out" your old cluster and insert the panel, but most folks who want a custom plate are already comfortable enough with tools where they can cut the old part out themselves, and save themselves some cash.

.......I'm a hell of allot cheaper than redline and rockymountain too...........

Well, we're sorry we didn't know about you doing the A Body dash inserts.
I called RedLine last week and got their last in-stock insert and they should be thru making up the whole new deal this next week.
He charged about $50 more for the whole gauge/speedo pack than Summit (whose prices I quoted to him)
One reason I went to him is he operates out of his home and he knows MoPars and he knew about getting the ohms right for the gas gauge.

After replacing the heater core, I finally got finished re-installing all the various heater boxes and ducts. It was easier putting it back in than it was getting it out. Nasty job.

Next week I start to work on the headers.
This has a 225 six. I want to exit the exhaust ahead of the rear wheel.
I was measuring today and it seems the best place for the muffler is just back of the cross member.
This would be just below the brake line to the rear.
Has anyone else done it like this?
Does this sound like a good idea or a better alternative?
I'm open for anything right now.
I have Clifford Tri-Y headers with duel outlets.
It looks like I could use a long collector back to the muffler which should give a little more torque????

Does anyone know who has a plastic NOS glove box to replace that piece of stock cardboard crap?
One guy in Texas wanted $90 which seems too much.
What do you all think?
This is for a '74 Duster.

I don't sell the gauges- too much overhead to keep in stock. besides, people can usually get better deals through warehouse stores, and people buy various quality and sizes.

I make new backing plates, with whatever size and configuration you need. average price is reasonable for all custom work (they are all custom arrangments made for each individuals needs). usually around $50 total plus shipping.

first I ask what gauges they want, I tell them what will fit, give them a drawing, and we go back and forth until its what they will be happy with. its a pretty painless process.

The Rockymountain clusters do look awesome, but are incredibly expensive. I must admit I do like the optional environmental control panels you can get for them though. Sick6's dashes are great stuff too, especially if you want to retain a somewhat stock appearance while using your own gauges. Should I land myself an A body at some point, I'll be ordering one from him. He's a good guy to deal with and I've talked to him several times when I was planning on ordering one for the (now ex) fiance for her Dart.

PLEASE NOTE: That was using a very hacked cluster (just to get the right sizes), and it is just the prototype. the plates I make now are mostly black. I also don't make the housings, just the backing plates to go over. I can do installation, but most people like to save some money and do it themselves with heavy duty epoxy or something similar.

I hope to get some better pictures once I get a decent camera.

Also, once RDJ gets his you can ask him what he thinks of it. The rest of them that I have made were local guys and there is no way to get ahold of them other than calling.

We got our new dash panel back from Redline last week. He charged us $602 for the new panel, the 4 AutoMeter gauges and the AutoMeter speedo and installation. Also, small LED lights for the high beam and turn signals. Not cheap, but about $75 less than his estimate.
This RedLine setup looks like a million bucks. I'll try to get a picture of it this week and get it posted.
I still have to wire in the gauges and gauge lights to the old wire loom.
And drill holes to mount the light and wiper switches.
If anyone else is trying this, I can give part numbers of the stuff that's working for the rewiring.
Also, the oil pressure sending unit from AutoMeter is too big to screw in where the old warning light sending unit was. Had to get an adaptor fitting to turn it 45 degrees so it would fit. Haven't checked yet for steering clearance.
Can anybody use our old dash cluster? $10 + s & h and it's yours.

Anybody know where there's a plastic glove box for a Duster that's less than $60?

I am interested in anything you have to say about rewiring.

BTW, I got a plastic glove box out of a 75 Scamp a while back at a PickNPull (it was $5-10?) There is another yard around that has a couple of Dusters and later model Darts I think. They are more expensive, but I can check.
