Post subject: Has it Been One Year??!!
PostPosted: Wed Aug 01, 2001 9:01 pm
About a year ago (7-31, 8-1) Chuck and I "fired-up" this message board on his Omnipages site.
(If you change your preferance settings you can quickly view some of the first messages)

Wow, we have done a lot in the first year with lot's of new info flowing-in almost daily.

Thanks goes out to everyone who comes to this message board and especially the people who have taken the time to post messages, give answers and help with articles. Also a BIG "way to go" to Chuck Rivers and Seymour Pederson for all their hard work in keeping this site "up" and keeping the SSRN & SL6 Racing events available for everyone.

So whatcha think?? What else should we think about doing?? (it needs to be quick, easy & cheap, kinda like a SL6!?!)

Well...Happy Birthday www.slantsix.org and yes, we do have "funding" for another year! ; -)
(that is, if we cash-in all those beer cans and pizza boxes we have been saving from the late night "thrash" sessions!)

Kudos to you guys! I sure have learned alot @ this site...stop by almost every day to read the latest posts. Great tech. articles! Your hard work and generosity deserves a big "thanks" from all the rest of us. Here's hoping that www.slantsix.org keeps on running as long as its namesake!

Maybe a photo gallery where we might be able to post pics of our own cars/conversions?

************************************************** You know, I'll bet that's something a lot of us, (me included), don't give much thought to. I've no idea what it costs to run a site for say, a month, but I'd be willing to kick in a small contribution, if needed.

For those curious, the actual out-of-pocket costs for a board are roughly:

$8.95/yr domain registration
About $70 one-time setup costs for ISP
$50 for board software (can be up to $500!!)
$10/month for "hosting"
(And lots of time...)

We are averaging about 400 hits per day on the message forum.)

This board has been an invaluable resource for me. The information provided here is better than any I've gotten--even from "professional" Mopar mechanics! (Though I suppose that ain't saying much these days.)

The two of you (and others) give your time and advice freely, no matter how mundane the question. I've asked a few myself, and hope you'll allow me to help you in the smallest of ways.

I can't afford to pay you for your time, which is likely donated in inordinate amounts, but I would be pleased to pony-up a months hosting fee or two if you'll direct me to the nearest collection box. . .

Chuck, if you're willing to email me your snail mail address, I'm willing to put $20 in the mail Friday. The info and ideas on this forum are more than worth it.
