Well, the same result - when I set it to 5BTDC it runs horribly!

Since I am thinking the timing mark is off - could I just reset the thing to TDC and mark the dampner and go from there?

It just runs so well with it sitting at around 30after right now. I mean it's a totally different vehicle set that way.

Thanks,
Dan

Yep, determine TDC and remark the damper.

But make the mark on the inside of the rubber so if it's slipping, you'll have a mark that doesn't move.........

Okay, I reset TDC and re-marked the dampner.
Now, with it set to around 8 BTDC it runs like a champ.
Starts with just a touch of the key, revs right on up, and will hold a high RPM without chugging or barfing!

I knew that was the problem! I only have about 4 different dampners here and I just grabbed one and put it on.

Okay, as far as I can see, that solves the running problem for right now.

Now my other problems are the kickdown linkage and the shift cable.

I contacted Lokar and if I want, I can order the cables and brackets - both kickdown and throttle, and it will only cost me $315.80 (before taxes - and that's suggested retal price), they say I should be able to find a better price at one of their retail clients. Any ideas who sells this stuff at a better price?
I wonder what part of I have no money to spare right now is so confusing?

Oh well, after paying the X her blood money each month now - it should only take me about 3 more months to get this back on the road. Right now it's a very expensive yard ornament!! I thought I had all the parts I needed sitting and waiting - it really sucks to find out that they were only PART of the parts and not the right ones at that!

The kickdown I have is apparently the one for the 1 barrel - at least that's my guess. Oh well. Life in the fast lane!

Later,
D
