 Post subject: T-5 slanted advice
PostPosted: Sat Aug 11, 2001 6:03 pm
I'm going to try to put a T-5 from a Mustang 5.0 behind a slant six.

The Stovebolt Motor Company sells a $60 adapter which allows a T-5 to live behind a MoPar flathead. The adaptor is a simple bearing which fits into the pilot hole in the Dodge motor and allows the input shaft of the T-5 to be alligned. I have heard that this is an easy swap. I believe that all Chrysler products since 1928 use the same size pilot, this type of adaptor might also be an option for the slant.

I have no idea what machiningg is entailed, or what adaptor would be required. I have heard that Austrailian slant sixers have used the T-5 with the slant six. Any advice would be appreciated.

I think I'll stick with the tried and true 833 O/D for my '64 Dart as it's just laying on the garage floor, but I will use a T-5 behind my 218 flathead in a Dodge pickup as the T-5 is supposed to be reasonable swap. W/o an o/d or an axle swap the truck's gearing is not good for the freeway.

I would like to try the T-5 in one of my other slant six cars with some of the "world class"
upgrades.
