I'm considering a rebuild of my steering box, to include switching to the 20:1 wormgear. (Mancini has the worm gear package for $199.95 http://store.yahoo.com/chucker54/worgearpac.html )
Besides replacing the gear, what else should I replace or do while I'm in there?
I rebuilt the front suspension and swapped in late-A disk brake last summer, so the sloppy steering box really stands out.

you should be able to get away with just doing the seals and gasket. the seals should be available thru napa, carquest, etc. the gasket you can make out of paper. firm feel sells a gasket and seal kit, but last time i checked it was way overpriced. i wanna say about 40 bucks for 12-15 bucks worth of parts.
take the time to thoroughly clean the box and inspect the wormshaft bearings. they should be ok, but shouldn't be neglected. if your box is bushed check for excessive play in the sector shaft. my box had needle bearings, one of which was missing a roller (yeah the box was a reman unit i pulled from a van!) i had to get new bearings from a local supply house. any counterperson worth his salt should be able to take some measurements and find a new bearing that will work.
the last box i did i polished with a wire wheel in a drill. makes the housing nice and shiny. then sprayed with some clearcoat. still looks ok
