 Post subject: slanted FED runs again

Hi,

After a long rest, my FED (built by Dick Weber) got to the track again this weekend. I ran through tech with no problems then while fueling found a broken frame rail! I was able to get a local welder to tig it back together with a split tube 'patch' in about an hour and a half.

First run was a 1/2 track, 75 mph checkout pass, second run was 12.46/110mph, then 12.24/110, 12.22 /110, 12.29/110. Dick's best was 12.22, so it appears to be back to its previous form. I am sure there is a ton of ET left with tuning changes and driving changes (leaving at an idle now).

Thanks to those on this board that answered some of my questions while putting this thing back together.

Sounds like a successful outing, looks like you now have some good "base-line" data to work from.
Time to start "tweeking" stuff.

 Post subject: Tri-State raceway

Hi Dennis,

I was at Tri-State Raceway, Earlville, Iowa (about 35 miles west of Dubuque, Iowa on Highway 20). Very nice, all concrete 1/4 mile track about four seasons old.

This is a smooth track, with blacktopped pit roads. I've never driven a no-suspension car before and was suprised how "bounced around" you get. I wonder how much worse it is on a bumpy track?

I suspect I'll be at the track every weekend until they close for winter, trying to get a handle on this car and what it wants before next season.
