I'll admit it. I drove with the parking brake partially engaged and totally cooked my rear brakes. has anyone done this and ran into problems with their axle seals and bearings burning up.

when you take them apart you will know, but probably they will not be
damaged unless you cooked them to the point of catching fire.
although you did prolly fry your brake shoe hold down and return springs
they are cheep and you will have them off to replace the shoes

I looked behind the drums today after work to see why it was smoking. (If indeed I blew a seal) and it's been wet for awhile. either a wheel cylnder or the axle seal's been weeping a while. I havent changed the brakes on this car since I bought it, nor do I know the last time they were changed so I'm gonna overhaul everything now that I dont have any rear brakes left

what a difference. the drivers side was saturated with brake fluid from a weeping wheel cylinder and the other side had a cracked pad. they self adjust great and made a big difference in pedal feel. cant wait to do the fronts.
