1965 Valiant convertible

I have this horrible squeak that is coming from either the passenger side upper or lower control arm bushing when the car is rocked up and down.

I have sprayed oil and grease into the bushing area and it will not go away.The car has the kesley-Hayes disc brake setup on it.

I'm not looking forward to tearing apart the front end again and replacing the bushings ,but unfortinatly I think this is the problem.

Anyone have any ideas on this matter?

Got rubber or polyurethane bushings in your car? Rubber bushings are not meant to be lubed, by spray or otherwise.

Squeaking could also be coming from shock absorber or its bushings.

Also check your shocks. My Valiant convertible had a horrible squeak in the front suspension when I got it and I was sure it was in the bushings, but it turned out to be a shock.

Who is the best source for buying bushings? I don't need high performace bushings, just good quality bushings that are preferbly not made in China

I'm also looking to install an anti sway bar that I took of a donor 65 valiant.

On the donor car, the end of the sway bar was attatched via bushings and clamps to the strut rods.I didn't like this set up, as the strut rods didn't seem strong enough to handle the load and twisting of the body.

I'm thinking that the sway bar should attatch to the lower control arms.
Is there a kit available or will i have to prefab this?

I would like to do this as cheap as possible, so I'm hoping I can use the exisiting sway bar.

Pictures of exisiting setups would be extremly helpful

If they are rubber bushings i would expect it to be the shock or a ball joint has rust in it.
monro redesigned the sensatrack a few years back and they use some sort of blue collered seal . I have seen dozens of these that squeak like heck right out of the box.

Rubber bushings may not be meant to be lubed, but when they become old and dry and hard and cracked, they often do need some lube (or something to displace water), particularly if you live in a moist environment. Sometimes a good soaking with WD40 will help, I have found that a product called "viscotine" has worked real well in the past on particularly tenaciously squeaking old bushings. It sprays on real thin, then thickens up like STP. Yeah, yeah, this will further degrade the ancient bushing, but by this point, you know you need to replace the bushings anyway and want to drive some more miles without the gawdawful squeaking!
