Refit the trunk floor of my '62 to flat. Opened up new floor 18.25" X 18.25" for the fuel cell and dropped it in. Fastened it down with Fuel Cell's screws.
ISSUE?
I have what is called an OIL CANNING effect.
Rear of Cell is too close to rear/valance/floor to move :)
but front has too much flat area?
Empty, I can pull up & down on the Cell and it moves too much on the front end. :(
Should I cross brace (1" X 1" X 1/8" angle) rail to rail
or is this of no real concern??
Thanks
Terry

Not exactly sure what you're getting at, but you would be better off with some support under it.

I am reading that you just cut out the trunk floor? If so, you will need a sheet metal guard under the tank to be legal anyway. The cell can not hang down unprotected.

It came with an outer shell/housing from the MFG..
I checked with Tech. Guy at Milan 2 weeks ago (brought the complete cell with me) and he said too many guys were buying the Fuel Cells without a case, Just the firm wall plactic bladder, so they put the Sheet Metal Guard rule in place.
The full case this cell has fulfills that requirement. :)
I installed the support last night. Nice and secure.
Thanks,
Terry

This cell has the roll over valve/vent, outlet and filler head attached. I intended in using 3/8" fuel line from here to the Blue pump then up to the front. This tank has 1/2" - #8 fittings coming out. I have no way of doing my Blue pump in 1/2".
No problem reducing it down? The outlets are #8 JIC too......
The best way to route the VENT is _____ ??
:?:
Thanks again,
Terry
