I can say one thing about us who have the slow slant cars. They may not be the fastest ones out there but man they are consistent. Me, Cecil, Jerry, and the guy in th yellow Duster kicked some serious butt in the street class. It is funny to beat a V-8 with a six.

I had a great time.

Congrats to Norm for the win.

Thanks to CharlieS for the hard work and time he put in to make this race happen.

The whole race went fairly smooth for a first time event. The track is just over a year old and it's first rate operation. I'm looking forward to next year.

11 cars made time runs, 10 made first round. Dale Rose was out when put the #3 rod out his block when the trans broke and zinged the motor. Later he fired it up to load, I could see the crank spinning thru the 8" hole in the block! There would have been 1 more racer if it were 2 weeks later, an owner of a nice Duster from Tampa came up but it was 2 weeks till his 18th B-day, he says he'll be ready next year.

Also a big thanks to South Georgia Mopar Club for hosting and allowing a slot in the schedule for the Slant Six Racing Series.

Hey Cecil, glad to see that you are back. That yellow Duster that was out there had a 4-barrel and 2.76 gears. I finally asked him what he had in it because it sounded stock and was way faster than your car or my car.

The guy with the white Duster was very enthusiastic about the slant six race. Nice to see all of these young people getting interested in slants.

We were in the same boat with Kendall. He turns 18 in July. I sure wish I would have known about the liability waiver ahead of time. Kendall handled it a lot better than I did. I wanted to cry. He just said, "Hey, they make rules for a reason, you drive and I'll pit crew." He graduated the night before and didn't get to bed until 3 a.m. I picked him up at 5:30, so he was pretty wiped and took cat naps throughout the day.

I couldn't believe he was not allowed to race. This is the third time he was all ready to go and not able to drive.

The first time was at Paradise when the old engine spun a bearing before the first round.

The second time was at Silver Dollar when he had his learner's permit, but not his license.

And now at Cecil he has to be 18! :x

I hope the third time was a charm and he'll be able to race next time. Hopefully they won't have more rules that say he has to be 21 or 25 or have a note from his dentist or something!

Sorry, just had to vent a little.

On the up-side, we did make some improvements to the Duster and were able to improve the E.T. from the 17.46 when we parked it 2 years ago to a 15.85.

The biggest performance improvement had to be the re-curved distributor that Dusteridiot sent us. Thanks Rob! Once we got it put in right and timed correctly  it jumped from a miserable, sputtering, popping, backfiring 19 something to a tire-spinning 15.85 at 87+ MPH. Thanks for the help with the timing Cecil!

Stormin' Norman put us out in the first round of eliminations. The tires were spinning through the 60 foot mark, so I was a little off the dial in!

We were dog tired and I'm not used to the heat and humidity anymore (it's 49 degrees and rainy in Germany these days), but we had a good time and are glad we went. My oldest son Andrew (12) helped work on the car and came with us to the race. He was so excited and ran half way down pit row to tell me what each E.T. was! His excitement and participation was the highlight of the weekend for me.

Thanks for putting together a great race Charrlie! I'm waiting for that Scat Pack jacket to come in the mail for the "long distance" award!
