I actually Put this car togther in stages.

It does make a big difference, but it is really noticable when you make other improvements at the same time.

Stage 1 - Hyperpak / Headers to true dual exhausts - A bit much for stock cam and Head

Stage 2 Cam change to mopar .460" and Shave Head .090"

Stage 3 Port / Polish Head- Swap to OS Valves cut .020" more off head and cut .100" off Block - Swap cam again to mopar .528 Lift Cam Swap 3.23 Pig For 4.10 With Detroit Locker.

Stage 4 Swap to 1.6 Roller Rockers and Extrude Hone Intake Manifold.

I did this car in stages because I started working on it back in '99 when I was in college - Not a bunch of money so I was mostly limited to bolt ons.

As money was added to my account I added go Fast Performance
Goodies.

Stage 3 Was the most Noticable diffrence at the track - That cut a whole 2 seconds off my time.

I went from 17.20's to 15.25's

I recommend having the head professionally done it is expensive, but well worth it in my opinion.

You can try to port it on your own, but Unless you build engines for a living, you could do more harm than good. I wanted to do it right - Send it out.

Click on my link in the singature for more info at my site.

thanks for the info, i already have a 4 bbl on there, rebuilt for a slant, and love the acceleration i get. I am doing 16.40 now... i want to get dutra duals, but cash flow is stopping me. so I will probably just blockoff the stock exhaust for now, till I get duals or headers... i have amachinist lined up, an m going to increase comp also... and work on a cam... damn budget... lol
you going to carlisle??

One thing to note about the Hpak, you don't have a lot of room for a normal aircleaner on that side of the engine bay, it's even worse in the 66 Dart. I have to run a 2" air filter element as I refuse to cut my hood supports, I haven't found a drop base tin yet that will fit accordingly.

Good luck on your build, underhood heat will help driveability in the wintertime.
