What model Mopars did the lean burn slant come in, and how do I recognize the distributor? I could use one for my EFI set up. Anyone want to sell one, or trade for a standard electronic ignition one? I know I have seen those aircleaners on the slants in the junk yard, but never gave the distributors a second look. Thanks. Sam

My 79 318 Aspen is a lean burn Machine - in addition to the Computer on the air cleaner, the distrubitor will have no vacum advance pot hanging off the side of the distrubitor.

I believe some lean burn dist.'s have 2 seperate pigtail connectors also.

At least my v-8 is like that

I would say your best bet is a early to mid 80's truck and look for the computer on the air filter.

I have one saved out from a 1981 Dodge Pickup I scrapped a while back...try that year...it has the single pickup with no weights or governor...

Good luck,

Late 70s-end of the 80s are your best best. After 86 at least any slant six truck or van will have some kind of lean burn system, and most did after 1980 or so. From the late 70s to the early 80s it is hit or miss in cars and trucks. Almost all Diplomats and Fifth aves built after 1983 have a lean burn system.

On late 80's trucks don't just look for the computer on the air cleaner. In '86 and '87 (possibly earlier, but I am unsure) the computer's were hidden behind the battery in the driver's inner fender. These distributors do indeed have two seperate pigtails (for two seperate pickups) and no vacuum advance pod. The second pickup is easily removed if you do not need it. ;)

Also, from what I have read, I believe most slanted 80's trucks came with lean burn. So if you can find a truck with a slant, you should have pretty good odds of finding a LB distributor.

I have one from my truck, but am saving it for a megasquirt conversion myself. :D
