: hey blokes I've got an 225/6 with 904 tranny

: freeway driving.
: its for an Australian made AP6 valiant.
Well, I will give this a shot....
It is alway good to know a little about how much money you want to spend and what kind of fuel you will run. (Here in the states, 87 octane is the "regular" and 92 the "super"
Basically I would build a stock bottom-end with good quality pistons and rings. (See the block prep article for some little prep tricks)
The cam is the hard choice but we need to know more about how you drive before giving "hints" about what cam may fit your use.
I would spend most of your time on headwork. Port it out, mill it down (along with some off the block) to increase compression. Oversize valves and a nice 3 angle seat grind will really wake-up a Slanter.
A big carb. and a set of headers and you will have a pretty fast SL6.
As for the 904 Tranny, use the heavy duty V8 "inners", a low first gear set and a high stall converter and your AP6 will "rocket" off the starting-line.
Hope that helps some.
