What would be a good vacuum distributor with proper governor for an 85' slant waiting for the HEI swap? I know it must have the hexagon vacuum pod for adjustment but dont know what mechanical I should look for. Timing now with lean burn is 12 BTDC . Example a distributor from a supersix wouldnt work with my 1bbl?

Any single-pickup slant-6 distributor will work with your HEI swap, as far as getting the engine started and running, and you back on the road. The question isn't whether or not it'll work the question is of getting the optimal advance curves for your particular setup. That pretty much always takes custom work on whatever distributor you're starting with. Those smogger distributors with initial timing spec of 10° to 12° tend to want reworking so initial timing winds up at about 7° to 8°. Doctor Dodge can advise you in much better detail than I can.

Im going to bypass the computer at that time as well and do it all thats why im interested in the vacuum advance. Im just collecting the parts up at this time first. I seen someone selling a distributor on ebay from a supersix car which made me think the advance curve wouldnt work for my 1 bbl setup thats assuming of course.

I've got the super six dizzy (9r govorner) in my D150, and it serves as a good starting point. With my setup though (head shaved .090, 270 adv. cam), the stock spring makes the advance come in a bit too fast. Still trying to get it tuned in just right, but at least it's drivable now. I'm running 8 degrees of initial advance.

The worst governor you can get is a 15r. I am about to swap a 9r into my Duster to replace the 15r.
