1970 Dart Swinger. Front disc, rear drum. The brake system warning light on the dash has just started to flicker as I'm cruising down the road. It occurs when I hit bumps in the road. I don't have access to any FSM info at the moment, and was wondering what this light is measuring and where the sensor is. The fluid level in the MC seems consistent. I don't drive this car a lot and have noticed after extended periods (1-3 months) of sitting, the first few times I brake there is a bit of a shudder in the front end. I always attributed that to some minor surface rust build up on the rotors as it would go away after some around town driving. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

"flashes on bumps" "flickers while driving" means the wire is grounding out somewhere intermittently. That light serves two purposes: It comes on when the handbrake is applied, and it lights up if a pressure imbalance is detected in the brake hydraulics. The former function is handled by a "refrigerator door" type switch at the leading end of the handbrake shaft under the dash. The latter is handled by a contact and sliding shuttle in the brass metering block you will find if you follow the two brake fluid pipes downward from where they leave the master cylinder.
