Any comments appreciated on how to pressurize the new engine (build up oil pressure) prior to startup.

Just use a good assembly lube, fill 1/2 the filter with oil before you put it on, crank it w/o ignition until it gets oil pressure, then fire it up! Some people pack the oil pump with vaseline, but I think pouring oil in the filter and/or pump does the same thing.

As Dart270 said, prefilled filter and pump, but I'd suggest pulling the spark plugs so that you can spin it over without load on the bearings to build pressure.
Build the pressure, reinstall the plugs and light 'er up.

You can make a pre-lub tank from a freon tank or
other container. It'll need an opening for a fill, a fitting low on the tank to connect to the engine, and an air hose fitting in the top to pressurize it.
Connect a hose from low tank fitting to engine's oil system through the pressure sending unit hole. Fill tank with 2-3 quarts oil. Pressurize take with air, and pressure in the air above the oil will force the oil into the engine. A tee will allow you to connect a pressure gauge as well.

This may sound silly, but a simpler way is to connect another engine oil system to your engine with a line. Run slave engine to force oil into your engine to prime. Be careful not to run slave engine too long, as you could pump all the oil from it into your engine.
