Not sure if this is appropriate for the Engine forum, but anyway here's my question:

After I get the Dutra manifold bolted up, can I drive the car to the exhaust shop (about 10 miles), or should I have it towed?

I was thinking that a 4-foot length of flexible exhaust tubing clamped to a shortie head pipe on the Dutra would allow me to drive the car to the shop.

Or maybe it's not worth the trouble, and I ought to have it towed.

Any thoughts?

Thanks

Steve

Noise ordinances aren't too bad in my town, so I cut off two stock pipes and clamped a couple of peices of flex to them dangled them so they'd dump on the ground and drove it to the shop...(boy was that fun and really loud and annoying).

my dad drove his 67 charger with a 440 with open headers to the muffler shop one time, saw one cop and it was right when he had to pull a big hill, no ticket.and if you just tell them your going to have the new exhaust put on they will usually leave you alone

I did the flew hose thing routed to an old motorcycle racing muffler. The Dutra outlet was just the right size for a sort piece of exhaust pipe adapter to fit snuggly. I hose clamped the flex hose to that and ran it to the muffler then ran it down and out under the car by wiring it to the old exhaust pipe. It took the edge off and wasn't too loud if I feathered the throttle a bit. Nice sound when you get into it though.
