I'm putting a new headliner in a 1964 Valiant and it does not have a dome light- but it has two lights in the back for the rear seat passengers. Did the 64 come with a dome light if it was a hardtop? Would you recommend adding a dome light? I have a spare dome light from one of my regular Valiants.

I once owned a 64 Signet hardtop and it had the two lights on the rear pillars. I would keep those. i like the looks better, plus it gives more illumination.

My Dart also has the 2 pillar lights and I also think it looks cooler than a single dome. One exception, both my lenses are broken so it looks like junk. Kwon where to get replacement pillar light lenses? :?:

That's the problem, one of mine is now broken. My son was pushing on it, thinking that was how you turned it on! I need to do the headliner anyway, so I was wondering if I should jusat remove it on one side for now and leave the wiring underneath. I was also wondering if I should add a dome light while I was at it.

Have you checked with laysons.com for replacement lens? They have always had the items I've needed.

I've seen them on E-bay.

Because the message never seems to get through to some people, I will say it again (click the red text): it is an incredibly stupid idea to send Layson's money, ever, for anything, no matter how badly you need it.

You could, but the rear quarter lights come on the same way as the dome light. You would thus have 3 lights on everytime you turned on the interior lights.

And if you have the optional map light under the front edge of the instrument panel, you would have four.

Lots of light if nothing else.
