I remember reading somewhere that you can't use the clifford intakes (non water heated in this case) with the stock exhaust manifold. Well, I did it last night. If fits Ok. Had to gring some of the casting flash off the exhaust, especially on the choke pocket.. but it wasn't a big deal. And I had to plate off the heat riser pocket on the exaust.. Which I did with some 1/4" steel plate. There's a boss on the bottom of the intake near the heat riser, but it has no provisions for heat riser hookup.. I had to grind a little of it off to clear the block off plate on the exhaust heat riser.. Getting that triangle washer on the stud under the choke pocket was a trick though (ended up tack welding a 1/16" thick piece of fill rod to the top of the washer and used it to guid the washer through the gap between the manifolds and onto the bolt, and just used extensions to get the nut on)..

I'll be using a similar tactic to use a Clifford water heated intake with my Dutra Dual exhaust. I ground a good amount off the heat stove and fitted a plate. So it's just like the modified stock casting, but with less of a heat stove to clear the water heat passage. I'm doing this instead of using it with headers because I like the cast iron so much (and the exhaust has only been duals for six months).

So, when I finish (maybe next week, final exams this week) I'll let everybody know if it's a stupid idea or not.

These are some good tricks Matt,
I have also used the "block-off plate" idea when using Hyper-Paks and a stock exhaust manifold.
(Hyper-Paks do not have a heat riser pad)

I do not know why Clifford does not finish machine that mounting pad on their intake.
(I do know why, it's less work to just leave it "as casted" and they can sell a set of their headers along with the intake)
I have done the machining on these manifolds (a 15º cut and drill 3 holes) so they work "with heat" but with-out all the bumps like the stock units have)
