I've got a ACAD drawing I'd like to post. How would I go about doing this?

Never heard of ACAD, but it sounds like some sort of CAD drawing.........


Anyway, sometimes software packages have an option to export a file in another format so you can view them from something other than the software package.

(might take a few steps, you might need to export to another format so that another software package can export it to JPG (not sure if this site handles BMPs))

I do not know which version of AutoCAD you are using, but several versions have the ability to "save as" a jpeg file. That is one way.

Another way is to simply maximize you CAD window, and hit "CTRL + Print Screen". This saves a screenshot JPEG of your entire screen on the clipboard. Paste the image into your photo editing software (I actually use MS Powerpoint ) to crop the image to size, save the file as a JPEG and upload it to the net.

Its AutoCAD 2000. I didn't see a JPG format in the SAVE AS under the FILE pull down menu.
I am not ready to post yet but just wanted to get ready.

your post program will vary from shop to shop. can you tell me what controller you are posting it for? fanuc? vector? allen bradley? each has a different set of M codes, G codes are usually the same with a few exceptions.

is it a 3 axis or 5 axis drawing?

usually you can dave it as a DWG or a DXF file and they are direct drop ins to mastercam and cimex. I always stay away from PDF files because they usually lose something in conversion to a useable form (such as changing a PDF to a mastercam MC9 file). arcs will turn into a million little striaght lines instead of a nice arc, and that can fill a buffer controller instantly.

I do this stuff all day........

Go to File>Export.... and you should be able to export the drawing as a bitmap (*.bmp) file, that any photo software (even MS powerpoint, which is not a photo program, but is bundled with MS Office) can convert to a jpeg file.

Bren67Cuda904, maybe I am misunderstanding, but to me "posting" a drawing means creating the NC code. to do that, you need to know what machine its going to be run on, if you want it in absolute or incremental, the type of material you are using for speeds and feeds, 3 or five axis......

can you provide a bit more information?

to me right now it sounds like you just want a printout of the drawing.
