Got the cylinder wall in the block cleaned up yesterday, looks like it's OK. Inspected all the pistons and found #2 had the #2 ring stuck. Not sure what's up with that. #5 has some reall funny coloration on the wrist pin. Not sure about that either.

Started cutting weight out of the car too. Not sure how much I'll get out of it, but it's gotta help.

I am hoping to debut a new female driver next spring too. Not sure who it will be yet, but I have a nice list of candidates. One Mopar girl, a couple Chevy chicks, and one with no affiliation. I'm hoping I can get the Mopar girl in the car. She's so small she makes Erica Enders look like Oprah.

I hope the ring lands of that #2 piston are ok. Did the ring come unstuck easily or did you have to pull it out? I'm curious to see that discolored wrist pin.

Good luck on the car diet and new driver!

Josh, the #2 has a tight spot where the ring catches. I'm hoping that since the top ring is free it is just a goober in the ring groove and not collapsed.

I talked to Mike the other night and speculation on the wrist pin is that the rod was heated too long when the piston was installed. The piston did not appear to me to be galled or anything.

The 3 rod/piston assemblies will be on their way out to Mike shortly.

Other than a quick hone job on the #3 cylinder the block is fine.

I'd be a lot less worried about the 2nd compression ring myself. I think you'd pretty much have to collapse the top ring land to hurt the second. If it were me I'd clean/fix up the groove and run it.

Hmm, that's an interesting theory. I would have thought for sure you were running floating pins. Glad to hear the pin boss is ok and that the block looks good.

Right now I'm putting a 273 together and collecting stuff for the killer 170 build. That reminds me; I need to call Crankshaft City back and see what it will cost to weld the rod journals so I can use a narrower rod.

Got a bunch of weight off the nose of the car yesterday. With a small driver I may be able to get this tank into B/Nitrous yet.

Did you finally remove that heavy front bumper or put on a fiberglass
one (even better) Fiberglass hood? Expensive but maybe worth it?
Just need to keep you slant oriented so you'll be in Vegas next Spring.

Talked to Mike today. Total damage was 1 piston/ring set.

May be updating my plate too. Time to go NOS and retire the Top Gun.

Was also looking at the Duster Saturday. Patrick has a 340/4 speed sitting there that really need to be in my car.
