How about disc brakes from a 75 Dart for a 1968 Barracuda. Is it the same as a 72, change everything from the spindle out?

The 75 disc set-up is completly different, besides all the "spindle on out" stuff, you will also need the upper A-arms (bigger upper ball joint size)and you will need at least 2 "big lug" wheels. (5 lug on a 4 1/2 b/c) This is a common swap and these later disc brakes are way easer and less expensive to buy parts for.

Will I still need a disc brake proportioning valve, and will it need to be the one from the 75 Dart or can I add a aftermarket valve, like one from wilwood with the dial for manual adjustment?

You can use either, but you should use the adjustable valve in the rear line if you use your '68 valve. Actually, I'd use the adj one either way, but maybe that's just me...

Hey what am I missing?
I read all the time about this swap and always the talk turns to the proportioning valve.
I have done this swap on two different cars, each time I have swapped the Master Cylinder for the disk brake car into the swapped car. They stop fine with no need for the valve. My current feather duster has smoked to a stop to miss a deer with all 4 wheels working fine. It also stops fine in normal situations.
Once again am I missing something with this valve?

I second the use of the adjustable one. They are cheap enough and you can -drum roll- adjust it. They work slick and look neat too.

On my 60, I swapped in an 8 3/4 rear end and front disks from a 76 Dart. With this combination, without the proportioning valve, I locked up the rears before the front even began grabbing and stopping distances were huge and freeway driving a real adventure. Since the proportioning valve instalation, stopping distances are dramatically improved from stock.

You must have swapped out the stock proportioning valve from the donor car. It's part of the brake warning switch assembly on cars with disc brakes. The brake warning switch assembly prevents a complete brake system failure if you loose either the front or rear brakes. This assembly also includes the stock proportioning valve on cars with disc brakes. When you use the stock proportioning valve from the donor car you might get away without the adjustable proportioning valve, dependent on the weight distribution of the two cars involved. However, if you want to "fine tune" the brake balance you need the adjustable proportioning valve as well.

All I've read about the disk brake swap say it's applicable for 1962 and later years. I know there were some suspension differences between the 1960 and 1961 vs all the later years, but I'm not sure what the differences are. What did you have to change to put disks on your '60?

Memory is a little dim since this was back in '94 so I looked up my records and I realize my previous post was a bit misleading. The power booster and master cylinder(bolted right in place) and factory proportioning valve were out of a 76 Dart but the spindles & disks were out of an '89 Dodge Diplomat. We also had to use shortened adjustment rods (from a 70's chrysler?)to connect to the steering knuckles. I seem to recall that the height of these spindles were slightly less than the original stock but seem to work fine for the lowered car stance and the type of driving I do. After trying this setup, I added the adjustable proportioning valve to take some pressure off the bigger rear brakes.
