I just bought a 1976 Dodge Dart Custom. When I ran the vin-decoder from Mopar, it comes back as a 1966 dart/demon....is this a common problem, or did someone do something not nice to the car i just bought? All VINs on the car match each other, and the title.
any insight is appreciated :)

A 1966 Dart 270 Hardtop 225 could be:LH23B6xxxxxxx

A 1976 Dart Custom/Swinger 225 could be : LH23C6xxxxxxx

The difference is in the Car type of the Era and "engine" digit, as 60's had
"A" for the 170, and "B" for the 225 (and "C" for a special order six in bigger cars)...by 1976 "C" is the only option for a six and it's a 225.

Could possibly be a typo in the decoder. The Demon was not available until 71.

Dart/Demon could be a generic descriptor for a Dodge branded A-body car. The "/" typically means that it could be one or the other. Run it through Carfax and see what comes up.

Growing older is unavoidable but growing up is strictly optional.
