Erson Cam Shaft Group buy for Slantsix.org Members

John Hartman at Erson Cams has agreed to offer slantsix.org members special pricing on camshafts, whether they are stock offerings or custom grinds. He has generously extended this offer, so if you are in the market for a camshaft, I encourage you to give him a call. Its great to have a company be so willing to support our community.

Please follow the ordering instructions below:

Pricing:
--------
$128 per camshaft--off the shelf or custom grind of your choice.
$175: camshaft + lifter kit ($47)
$252 for camshaft + lifter + double spring ($45) and retainers ($32)

*Prices as of 3/1/08

This price is very close to their wholesale price, and available to SlantSix.org members only.

How to Order:
----------------
1. Call John Hartman 1 (800)-641-7920 ext. 3
YOU MUST MENTION SLANTSIX.ORG TO GET PRICING, and feel free to mention my name (Menko Johnson).
2. Have your VISA/MC Ready
3. Shipping Information

They offer several different flavors of cam at .465 lift and .510 with durations in the range of 210-230 @ 0.050. Here's a link to the catalog: http://go.mrgasket.com/pdf/ChryPlyDodge.pdf

select from here

In any case, if you're interested, please post here, and send me an email with the cam number you'd be interested in. I'm not certain of pricing, but I know it would be less than the $140 or so for a new Compcams cam from Summit. I can get a better price estimate when I know how many folks would be interested.

Orders will be filled on first come, first served basis, and nobody will be charged until the camshafts have been shipped. I thought this would be easier than me trying to get everyone's information and handling it (S-P-A-X).
Hi Everyone,

I have been looking to get an Erson 280 cam, and some of you know, they are no longer carried at Summit, Jegs, or anyplace else I could find. It turns out they were sold off from Mr. Gasket in November, and are mostly doing stuff for engine suppliers now.

However, Tom just happened to build a 64 Dart up for his wife with a slant six, and offered to give us a break on their prices if I there were several people who wanted to order.
Thanks!

MJ

Can we find-out what the reccomended lash is for each of these profiles.
Can we get them ground on any lobe center? (also call: L/C, Lobe Seperation, Lobe Centerline...)
I wonder if these are ground on new cam 'blanks' and where they are getting them? (most likely an EP7 blank)

For under $140.00 I would be in for one, most likely a .510 on a wide L/C.

Doug,

The info I have from the catalog (picture on the top post) shows the .510 cam at a LC of 108, 0 degree of advance, and int/ext lash of .022.

I know you have a lot of experience with this, so I can get those questions answered for you. Lets talk when you have time.

MJ

got 2 ersons 270º off summit about almost one year ago. new cam blanks (no regrinding there) excellent oil pump/dist gear, nice lobe profiles, the 170ª works good with stock stall converter and 3.07 gears on my buddy's car (mine's still in the box waiting for my new motor highly delusional plans to come true)

How much milling do you need to do to get "highly delusional"?

shooting for 260+ ci with stock later forged steel crank, custm forged pistons, full floating pin setup, thin rings pak, tons of head work, wet sleeving, 600 cfm 4 barrels induction, high numerically gears on the back, close ratio 833, I haven't decided wether to have a small overlap cam such as the dual pattern erson that I'm interested on and reduce comp and possibly go turbo in the future or build a wild aspirated engine. No EFI for me, I just love to curse on carburetor makers and their female relatives.. Say 300+ HP and 350 PSF torque (non turboed) yet streetable.

I have not found what I consider the ideal off the shelf grind for what I want to do, but the 270 Erson looks decent to me. Is there a chance of getting a custom grind with this deal? My ideal cam would be between the RV and the 270. I would be in for one either custom or off the shelf. How would this be coordinated?

EP7 is the P/N cam grinders use to order new Slant Six "semifinished" cam blanks.
