I could use a favour from someone who has a minute to spare....
The next time someone checks the oil on their 225, could you please measure the dipstick "blade" and tell me how long it is...and how high the "full" mark is? A previous owner either cut part of mine off....or grabbed one from another engine. It looks "modified".
Thanks ahead,
BBBanjo

I think you also need to know how long the tube is..... (maybe even location)

(not sure of a good measuring point for the tube length is, since it's been awhile since I looked)

O.K., I'll measure the tube tomorrow....It's around 12 in...
The tube in in the block, driver's side, right in front of the exhaust pipe.
Thanks,
BBBanjo

from the bottom tip:

1 3/8" to the "ADD" mark.

1 15/16" to the "Full" mark.

15 7/16" overall to the base of the "handle".

BigBlock,

I have three originals, each a different length. None of them were for my truck engine...trucks have the sump in front, and the forum here has an article about the different sump locations. Does your dipstick as used now work ok...i.e. is the cut and fixed length showing full at full? Just empty your crankcase, measure volume and refill to spec and see where the level is on your stick...

Check the angle of your dipstick tube... I believe that slant sixes have a habit of breaking off the dipstick if your dipstick tube is at the wrong angle. The crankshaft snaps it right off.
