8) I had read another post that, on occasion, the Drake's had some difficulty getting their Simca through tech at some Mopar shows that required "Mopar bodied" vehicles. Well after minutes of exhaustive research, here's what I found out!: Starting in 1958, through selected dealers in the United States, you could order a Simca. Now, and here is where the good news comes in, in 1964 Chrysler Corporation PURCHASED CONTROLLING INTEREST in the Simca Company and was the majority owner until 1990, when they sold it to Peugeot. The last year one could buy a Simca from a Chrysler/Plymouth/Dodge dealer was 1971. There ya go..........RICK

We have never had any problems from any of the shows we attend because most of them say Mopar body or Mopar powered. That means a 69 Camaro with a 440 could run if they wanted too.

Thanks for the research! :D

Tom

Hey Tom,

I was the one that posted the comment about you having trouble with the Simca being allowed because of the Georgia event. They also would not let a VW Bug with a crate 360 run. They were more strict about the "Mopar Bodied" rule. I thought you had mentioned other shows having similar issues about the Simca. My bad.

No problem at the Valdosta, Georgia race. I sent the South Georgia Mopar Assoc. the link, showing Simca being "owned" by Chrysler, and they said OK.

Here is a model to the Lemans winner in 1939. I have thought seriously about buying one of these and painting it like our simca.
