There is no such a thing as "the best". Every car/engine/trans/equipment/purpose combination is different.
:
: For all out speed.

Everybody's definition of "all out speed" is different. Some people mean the "all out speed" you want going down the 1/4 mile, some mean around a circle track, some mean in a road rallye, some mean down to the Safeway for a quart of Cherry Garcia ice cream...

Electronic fuel injection.

What's a "big" cam?
What's "high compression"?
What's an "A-body"? (2000-lb '62 2-door post? 3800lb '76 4-door?)

CR, with your combo I would not be scared to run an Offy and an Edelbrock 500. Dennis

I dont think theres an answer to this question yet, to much hem holin around.I think we all know what he means....

11.5to1 comp. minimum hes talking about.
around .560 lift im sure
A body with probably a weight of 2900 #s

I would assume triple side draught webers. They run excellent in aussie cars. Aussie 6s are different, but if you had the hp they do in there 6s,3 webers would work great for our /6's. If you had that comp and a big cam like that, 3 webers would have no problem. I would assume huge valves and porting, therefor, buzzing that thing REAL HIGH RPMS would work great for the 3 webers. IMO

For the "most" high RPM horsepower . . .
For that, you don't really need a carb., or fancy manifold, just spray the fuel right into the cylinders with a IRFI set-up. (Individual Runner Fuel Injection)

Here is a look at Mark Goodman's IRFI set-up on the Green Team Lancer, it is made-up of mostly Hilborn parts, We give this set-up a big "thumbs-up" for making great high RPM power. (although part throttle operation is not the best)

Let's face it, this type of system has no manifold restrictions, turns or bends to cause turbulance and mixture distribution is always "spot-on".

Be sure to search the message board for key word: Hilborn, we are trying to get them to produce another run of their SL6 system. They may even sell some semi-finished or raw manifold castings for those who may want to use them for an IR-EFI system. (email Hilborn ASAP if you have ANY interest) sales@hilborninjection.com

:
: They had plenty of Slant-6s just like ours in
: Australia. They also had Hemi-6s from
: '70-'81 which we did not have here.

I didnt post my numbers because this isnt really about my car. I was just asking what people thought the best setup would be. Just looking for new ideas/stuff i havnt seen before, like what DD posted.

Let me rephase this. Forget the A-body, forget the comp, etc. How about: "If you had all the time and money in the world, what would you bolt to your slant?"

The best combo I have seen for racing as for as tuning and performance and consistity is rons flying tolet.
This combo is used with great success in several slant racers. Easy to tune and simple to change parameters... But pricey.
Thanks, Ron

Now *that's* a question I could sink my teeth into!

A carefully-engineered, programmable sequential port fuel injection system and a supercharger or turbocharger.

Were talking common sense here...he lists big everything, therefor, on THIS board, 250-350hp build ups is about right to ASSUME. Assuming goes a long way, hey, I just assumed again.we sure know he is not talking about 9 to 1 comp and a .460 lift cam with stock manifolds.......

If money wasn't an issue, I'd build a Duster as light as possible, and the engine would get a high lift UltraDyne cam, and an Accel Gen 7 digital multipoint fuel injection system, and single or twin turbos. As long as money isn't a problem, a Billet CNC aluminum crossflow twin cam head would also be nice.

: Looking at the picture of Mark Goodman's IRFI set-up on
: the Green Team Lancer, is that a thick spacer between the head and intake/exhaust mounts? The intake tubes appear welded to it and the exhaust is bolted on. What's the purpose/benefit, or is this part of the Goodman go-fast, secret stuff?
