 Post subject: engine blocks
PostPosted: Sun Feb 10, 2002 3:09 pm
I bought a 225 engine out of a 1980 truck. I read the slant sickness hot rod article and 76 and newer blocks aren't very desireable blocks for build ups because of the narrower mains and connecting rod journals. Are they that weak to do a build up on. I plan to blueprint the block, bore it 0.030" stock crank and rods. I've already polished the head did a competition valve grind and decked the hed 0.060". I would to also put a mild cam in along with it. Any suggestions

: Unless you plan to do something really wild with it, a cast cranker will be fine. The first Slant powered door car into the 10's had a cast cranker on board, I doubt you will beat on it that hard will you? Dennis
