Hi,

Has anyone here ever used a Crane Hi-6 ignition box with a Pertronix Ignitor? It says on the Pertronix website that the ignitor is compatible with an MSD box, but I'm not sure about the Crane.

Also, would the benefits of using a multi-spark CD ignition be negated by keeping with the Pertronix kit? Would I be better off using a Mopar electronic distributor?

Thanks in advance.

If the crane can be fired by points like the MSD can (, you won't have any problems using the pertronix with the crane

(the pertronix is basically a points eliminator)

(summit usually has a link to an installation manual if you can't find it on cranes site)

all the pertronix will be is a trigger once everything is installed. i have the crane HI-6 ignition and i'm still using the points to trigger it. the disadvantage to using points is that at higher rpm they can become unstable. they also require maintenance. putting either the pertronix or a factory electronic distributor will make the system that much more reliable and trouble free.

if you go with the factory distributor, you should recorve it be installation.

Thanks for the info. I was hoping someone would say it could be done. I didn't want to have to replace my distributor which has been reconditioned an recurved for modern lower octane fuel. There's nothing worse than spending $$$ without needing to.
