Hi Folks!

Just wanted to mention to the "Sixers" that the 2007 All-Mopar Southern Nationals has been scheduled for May 25-27 (Memorial Day weekend) at the South Georgia Motorsports Park in Valdosta/Cecil GA.

This year's event will be ALL-MOPAR, with even more racing classes (bracket and heads-up), the all-Mopar car show (over 30 judged classes), and the swap meet and car corral.

We've done our best to address some of the complaints from last years show (especially in the "paying twice for entrance" issue); there should be a noticable improvement in the "smoothness" of the whole thing.

More info can be had at www.allmoparsouthernnationals.com and info@allmoparsouthernnationals.com

Anyway, hope to see y'all there!...

They will have a SL6 bracket class and this event is a SSRN Points event.
I bet there will be some prize money but I don't know how much.

The South Georgia Mopar Club is putting up, some money for the purse. I am working on getting additional money/merchandise, also. If anyone would like to help support this race, it would be appreciated. Send me a PM, or respond to this thread. Last year we had about a $1500 total purse, thanks to some corporate help, from Stewart-Warner, and Advance auto parts. We also had help from individuals. Ron Parker, Slant Cecil, Rob Simmons, Rick (Dago Red) of Ram Racing, and the Cowtown Mopars. We were able to even give 1st round losers a little.

We have got a guy in the Middle Georgia Mopar Club that is building a slant six race car. Don't know if he will have it ready in time this year.

I may be racing down there this year, but it won't be in the slant six race. I have a 318 ready to go in my Duster.

Would someone PLEASE race the GodsRods Duster at this event!? I am going to try and make it, but the Army (and my wife) may have other plans. I really went overboard last year and turned our "family vacation" into a Slant 6 Race vacation. I can't do that again.

This is a serious offer with no strings attached. The car is just sitting there in Stockbridge. It ran a 15.85 last year with some pretty good tire spin, so mid to low 15s are probably doable. I can't stand to see it just sit there when someone could be enjoying it.

I've offered this before several times. You don't have to adopt a group of teenagers to go with the car (they've all graduated and gone to college and other things). You don't have to promise to teach a teenager to race with it. You don't have to say any "Hail Mary's" or "Praise Jesus'" to race it (the GodsRods stickers are pretty much faded off the doors anyway). Just someone PLEASE race this thing...

Hey Rob did you ever get a set of slicks to go on that thing?

Well, kinda sorta...

I'm buying Norm Foster's '73 Duster that he raced before getting his Challenger. It has slicks on it. :D (along with centerline wheels, a Ford 8" with 4.56 gears and a mini spool, lexan windows, etc.) The plan is to put the engine and transmission into the better body. It even has a nice paint job on it! :D It is up in Chatsworth right now waiting to have the roll cage installed. Once that is done it is available to be married up with the engine and transmission in Stockbridge...

I'll make you a heck of a deal if you want to play with this convoluted project. I'll sponsor you with the car(s) and you do the engine swap. I'll even let you have the 8 1/4 with 3.91s out of the blue Duster for your red Duster to go along with that V8 swap you're planning! You can race the new Duster and I'll help with funding for whatever work needs to be done. Then, whenever the Army will let me come back to the states I'll get it back from you. That could be June 2008 or as late as June 2010.

That will keep you racing in the Slant 6 class, give you a car to play with and allow me to stop worrying about the car just sitting there. Think it over and let me know.

I know I refer to everything as things, my Duster is that orange thing, my girlfriend's Miata is that sexy thing, and my Miata is that nimble thing.

Sorry Rob I can't help you none with your car. I don't even know when I am going to get the 318/904 in my Duster, the most progress I have made is removing the "225" decals from the quarters  . I'm giving the Duster to my dad since he likes it and wants something to play around with. I am going to med school and working so I have no time to fool around with my Duster.

Perhaps Ron Parker could get some junior drivers?

Hey Jeb, that's cool. I just thought it might be a good thing for both of us. Medical school, huh? That's quite a bit different from wanting to go to an automotive trade school. Good luck with that.

I've offered the use of the car to many people and even resorted to begging at some points, but so far no takers.

This race is now just a month away!

Who's going? ROLL CALL!!!

I won't be able to make it, but I do have someone that is going to race the Duster. 66aCUDA is driving in from Arkansas to try his hand at Slant 6 Drag Racing. :D

For those of you who were there last year you probably realize that Frank may need a little help with the car. We always seem to spend more time under the hood than anywhere else. Then again, it was probably just the loose nut behind the wheel (Me!). Either way, please welcome Frank and his wife Cinda into the Slanted Family. They are working on getting their 66 Barracuda ready to race right now.

There hasn't been near the amount of chatter about this race as there was last year. What's up with that?

Jeb can't race because it's an All Mopar show and he drives a Miata now. We haven't heard from Dennis Weaver in quite awhile. I finally gave up on trying to get the Elder's from NGMC to show up at a race.

I'm sure folks like Ron Parker, Norm Foster, Dale Rose, and Slant Cecil will be there. What about Rodney Hargis, Gary Bruner, Ron Hamby, Tom Drake, Lou Madsen,...? Has anyone heard from any other local racers yet? What about you other Florida racers? I know it was HOT last year, but it's a very nice facility. I didn't hear any complaints other than the heat.

Charrlie has worked hard to get this points race on the calendar, so please support his efforts by showing up to race. I flew in all the way from Germany last year for this event!

I've still got my Duster, and I'm driving it again thanks to a junkyard motor. I'm not going to be able to make it to the race this year though, too much stuff going on with school/job/ladyfriend. I hope to try it again next year though, I miss drag racing my car, all I have been doing lately is watching my "friend" race her Mustang on the weekends.
