Post subject: 64 Dart GT Windshield
PostPosted: Tue Feb 12, 2002 2:56 pm
Anyone know?

Are there 2 types (sizes) of windshields for 64 Darts? I have a 64 Dart GT and I have a front windshield for a 64 Dart, but it is not wide enough (too narrow) to fit. Does anyone know?

Thanks!

Dave

I have never seen two different windshields for the 63 - 66 A-Bodies.
There is this difference with the later Darts (67 and up 4-Door vs Hardtops)

Did you actually pull this "to narrow" windshield out of a car yourself? What does it measure?

If you still need a windshield for your dart, I have one from a 1966 Valiant that you can have for free.

No, there is only one windshield for all '63-'66 Darts, Valiants and Barracudas. Its NAGS (National Auto Glass System) number is DW-625.

The winshield that I have is new (looks new to me) and etched on the bottom edge is DW625. The measurements of my window (on the car) is ...from the center of the window (top to bottom) is 21 7/8 inches. The side to side is 51 1/2 inches. The window is a good 1/2 inch short on both sides.

I took some measurements off a factory windshield I have, top to bottom measures 21 1/2, the side to side is harder to get an accurate measurement on because of how the glass gets bigger as it goes top to bottom. Measured right at the top, (after the rounded corner) it measured 48 1/4" and about 51 1/2" near the middle.

Sounds like you have the right piece of glass, how does the gasket (weatherstrip) look? Is the gasket the correct one, is it a new or used gasket?
(a used one may have "shrunk" some)
Here is a PIC on how the gasket should look and install:

I also have one pulled from a 1965 Dart. It is free to a good home. I am in Alabama, though.

I would be interested in an "unfoged" windshild.

I live in Florida. I would gladly pay fora decent one, including shipping.

Thanks,

John
