The thing about 60-62 package shelfs is that they have step in them.Until this thread popped up,I had planned on making a three peice affair and covering it with pleated vinyl.

Things are falling into place finally. I still need a small piece of trim that was specific to the 62 Signet, a chrome plated potmetal spear point for the leading edge of the front fender molding. I'm turning over in my head how to fabricate one. It's either that of ditch the split chrome molding with the contrasting color insert and maybe just do a pin stripe.

Lawrence, I didn't see this until just now. The trim I'm missing is from the right (passenger) side.

I almost forgot to mention... I got a call from REM on Monday. They got the hood pad I shipped but is seems that they already have that pattern in their product line up so I ordered it ( $25.00) along with the package tray ( 35.00 ).

How 'bout that! I must've overlooked it in the catalog they sent. I'll be very keen to learn what the quality's like on the repro hood pad, how well it fits, etc. Will you be able to take some pictures, d'you think?

maybe, maybe not...........

I'd bet they didn't know until they got the pad and found out it was the same as an existing pad.

I'll be happy to take some pictures. He told me it would be a couple of weeks.

The parts came while I was down in Yuma playing in the sand. The package tray is a very nice piece but the hood pad simply is wrong. I don't know where they got the pattern but there's no way it's going to fit the 62 hood and provide any kind of coverage. I will call them tomorrow and have a visit with them about it. I hope they still have the one I sent them.

Thanks for the update. I'll be interested to learn of your progress talking the matter over with them -- let me know how/if I can help!

I'm not sure if this will help, but I used a hood pad for a lancer on my 62 Valiant. I had to cut a little off the front where the Lancer hood comes to a point but other than that it all the holes lined up and it fit well. I got mine from Laysons but after I got it i found out that Gary Goers actually made it part number HP31 $18.00.

Here are some pictures of mine.

OK, I talked to Mike at R.E.M. this morning. He said that someone just pulled the wrong part; he is sending another out that should be correct.

speaking of, Dan do you know what the odds of getting those hood pads i've seen on the aussie valiants that are shaped sections that fit inside the hood indentations between the ribs? They look funky, but are cleaner and you can see the paint instead of a big blanket. Just curious

The good news is that now I have new kickpanel insulation... I just have to cut it to size.
