Off topic, but I'd like to swap a SRT-4 into a '62. That would be light, it might be lighter than in the Neon. I love my slant six, but I think the SRT-4 might be a good match for lightest weight. I don't know much about the latest 'World' version of the 2.4 with the variable valve timing, I don't think there is a turbo version of that motor. A '62 SRT-4 might get 30 MPG and be 14 second qtr mile quick.

There are plenty of old Valiants here in Texas but many have lost titles, it is difficult to register a car without the title because the state of Texas has rules against title fraud. I was told that if I could prove that the previous owner died that I *might* get a title w/o the PO signing papers. I got rid of my cars without a title : cheap. If you know how to get a title for this scenario I'd like to know.

if you really wanted to get lite and different find a plymouth cricket to put the srt-4 in. I think they were even fwd. For a rwd an early dodge colt could work. I always wanted to build a colt with a 2.2 turbo.

I talked to a guy yesterday at my local Pic-N-Pull that has an early (64?) Lancer that somebody left at his business a couple of years ago and never went back. He would probably get rid of it for nothing.

A '79 Plymouth Champ would be a another good pick for an unusual ride with SRT-4 power.

I thought about the SRT swap into my Dart with a Jeep Liberty 5 speed tranny,but you would have to custom fab an intake.....and I am not sure how you would mount it to the factory K member

I am thinking that the 172 hp 'World' 2.4 might be good to use as it is used in some rear drive Jeeps. The 'world' motor is so new that there is no aftermarket support, but it has lots of potential. It is also used in Hyundai and Mitsubishi (without the sophication of the Chrysler version). The German designed hydro-electic variable valve timing of the Mopar version is one of the most sophisticated systems of it's type. When this motor was introduced the initial reviews were ho hum, I've read some favorable comments recently - that it revs higher and is smooth compared to the older 2.4.

The 172 HP version is rated 30 MPG in 3,500 pound crossover SUVs, I think it might be be good choice in a lighter daily driver '63 Valiant where its torque curve could be used for more advantage with a better choice of gearing. The Jeep Compass turns 3,000 RPM at 70 MPH and still gets 30 MPG highway, 26 city in the EPA new mileage ratings system.

It would have to be a '62 or earlier. If it's in reasonable shape someone should snag that one. I'm too far away and have no room or budget for another car.
