Is the flange pattern at the rear end of a TorqueFlite 904 main case where the extension or tail housing bolts on the same between 'Chrysler' and 'Jeep' versions??

Put it another way, if I wanted to build slant six 904 that could be connected to a 4WD transfer case, could I take a slant six torqueflite from a Dart / Aspen / Valient, etc., take off the rear drive tail case and long output shaft, and swap on a short shaft and transfer case adapter from a Jeep??

Could I go the otherway and take the transfer case adapter off a 2.5L Jeep Torqueflite 904 and put on Dart / Valient, etc. rear drive extension housing and long output shaft???

Thanks for any help you can give.

If the Jeep guys know, they aren't talking.

Can't say for sure, but you'd likely need to start with A727s rather than 904s. I could be wrong, but I'm thinking there were 4wd 727s but not 904s. Come to think of it, there were 4wd 727s made for slant-6s! They were used in W-series (=4WD) Dodge pickups and vans at least through 1983. When I go to www.car-part.com and search 1982 Dodge Truck 150 series, Transmission, the last option on the next page is "A.T. 4x4 w/225 engine", and that's the one. Fair number of results come up. When I switch the search year to 1978, then the correct option on the 2nd page is sixth up from the bottom, and a bunch of results come up.

In other words...why go to the trouble and expense of rigging up something the factory put together for you?
