So, today i did the fuel line mod to fix the "vapor lock" problem which may have really been rust clogging something up, i say that because there was rust particles in the fuel filter which is another problem altogather. i was driving around the block, and i grinded gears confusing 1st with reverse, first i couldn't get into reverse, then i could with effort and a grinding noise, then there was no resistance in the clutch pedal, now my drivetrain is as one. time to ask around about transmission shops.

have you checked your linkage? On my first 62 Valiant I had a lot of troble with one of the arms of the Z-bar tearing away from the shaft. The symptoms were identical to what you describe.

I'd also check the release lever at the bellhousing I know a few who have "bent" or folded the fork due to age and poor welding/cracking of the factory component....

the adjusting nut went through the rubber thing, so the rod and nut go through the fork, the rod is not lined up with the hole in the fork, like something's bent

Dan might know the mopar number for it, some clutch units and I think MP came up with a "clutch saver" item to replace the rubber "stop" with a metal one so it was more positive and that sort of thing didn't happen again...

Hopefully the rod is just out of alignment and in good shape...

well it wasn't the linkage after all, the fork has almost no resistance when you move it, i guess the problem is a spring inside the clutch

If that moves freely, it either has disengaged the throwout bearing...or the "tabs" on the pressure plate are stuck (welded/broken...insert bad thing here)...yipes!

Time to pull the bellhousing and the whole clutch plate/disc/etc.. off the flywheel and go from there....
