I am sending a couple Volares to the crusher next weekend. I'd like to save the disc setups which I believe can be transplanted onto earlier A body Mopars. My question is what to save? I'd like to be able the whack off whatever needs saving with a torch since they will be on the scrap guys truck when I do it. Advice?

Keep the rotors, calipers, caliper brackets and bolts and spindles. also keep the banjo bolts as they are harder to come by. some parts store banjos are not as strong. Rotors are going for about 50 bucks now and come from China. Calipers can be rebuilt or used as cores. cores go for about 9 bucks at parts stores.

Oh ya, they can also be used on B-bodys too.Might as well include C. F. J. M and that's about all I can think of (old timer's disease)

For starters, Volare Rotor Hub pattern is LBP not SBP (small bolt pattern).

Most if not all 63 unmodified Valiants should be SBP? (4 instead of 4.5 dia.)

Even though I have a 65 Dart in my description, the caliper supports needed are headed onto a 34 Plymouth & not the Dart. Hopefully this addresses why you asked that question.

My Dart with the SBP uses the Scarebird Disc Brake Kit that adapts Celebrity rotors and calipers to the Dart and allows use of a SBP 14 inch wheel but not the "baby" stock V8 14 inch wheel without adding a spacer. A ralley wheel will clear the caliper without a spacer.

Be aware that the Volare (F-body) spindles are slightly taller than the A-body spindles. May not be a problem; some opinions here. For example:

" . . . I was originally skeptical about the taller F-body spindles. However, had I known when I converted my Dart to discs what I know now, I would have used them. One visitor from BigBlockDart.com posted a considerable amount of information on the effects of the taller spindles - he had used suspension modeling software to work out the effects on the geometry, and talked with people who had raced A-bodies with both spindle types. The conclusion he drew - which I'm inclined to agree with - is that the taller F-body spindles have a marginal performance advantage and no drawbacks, but the difference very small. . ."

If anyone needs them I have a set.
I'd like to get $40 for them including the pads. Came off of a running car I parted last summer.
