I know ya'll get tired of my questions.....is there a book that actually has all the carb info contained in this forum? :D
Q.1A I have two 1920's, one is a '72, and I'm not sure on the other, but it's pretty close. The metering block on the '72 has a passage plugged with lead. If you take the block off, and look at the back, it has two "J's" turned counter-clockwise & over. The smaller one goes left from the acc. pump chamber, to a hole that feeds the slanted passage in front of the metering block. The little hole that feeds the front passage has lead covering it. Is this factory?
Q.1B The other metering block does not have this, it also doesn't have the little ball inside the "well", connected to the slanted passage.

I hope all this makes sense....Anyone know what's going on? Should I put lead over the other one if I run it?

Q.2A My other 1920 has a plate opposite the fuel inlet, which houses what looks like a bimetallic valve.(Like the one in an air-cleaner) What is it's purpose?
Thanks for any help!

any pics on that lead balls? holley used lead balls in passages plugs for 1920's and some early 1 barrels and 2300's... You'd be able to tell for yourself if it's original by looking at the plug "finish" if it's original it should have a ball shaped head with turning marks transferred from the actual tool (aligned rings pattern)

Depending on the year of production or application (more specificly in the application specific number) some passages stay closed some are left open because they're not used.

This wasn't a ball, it was like a "puddle" about the size of a pencil eraser. It may have been a squished ball....?? It ran great with it plugged up, so I assume something was right. I'll probably just plug the other one, because the carbs and metering blocks are identical otherwise. I'm starting to think they put the block from an Economaster in it. Took the flat plug out of the front "well", and broke the long arm off the economizer valve lever; so it would match a "regular" 1920 metering block. But they forgot the hole.....That's the best conclusion I can come up with.

Any info on the valve in the side-well? I can't figure that one out....
Thanks Argentina-SS!
