For the last couple decades, only stamped-steel gaskets have been available for the "hotbox" area (where the intake bolts to the exhaust). These never seal, they always leak, and are a major source of frustration when doing a manifold swap. The original gasket in this area was a stamped steel item, which was replaced in production and service for 1962 by a thicker composition type gasket consisting of an asbestos core faced on both sides with clinched steel foil. These weren't perfect, though they were definitely better. The composition gasket was discontinued years ago in North America, and only the useless stamped-steel items have been supplied for a long time. Until now! :D

After several months of logistical work, really nice multilayer graphite-composition gaskets for this application are available from GPRS out of Australia. Cost is $8/ea plus $2/ea shipping. This will work out to about $8 total (shipped) in US dollars, and GPRS makes an equally nice graphite-composition intake/exhaust-manifolds-to-head gasket for us, too. Australia's a long way away, but shipping is no big deal, and it's terrific that these badly-needed gaskets can now be had. Next project I'll be working with GPRS on is the choke cup gasket for '70-'72 exhaust manifolds. GPRS can be reached by e-mail at mrmopar "at" iprimus "dot" com "dot" au (I have spelled it out like this to foil the address harvester robots that troll the web looking for e-mail addresses to send spam to). Their website is here. The new gaskets aren't pictured on the site yet, but they are in stock. Here are some pictures:

just order a set, we'll see how they work, but the sure look GOOD!!
Look like the ones I took out my 62D100 years ago when it had its
frist leak int/exh.

I've known this for years. Pity, I've only just joined up.

Mine just arrived on friday. Both the manifold gaskets and the heat riser gasket are very nice pieces. I have no doubts that they are about as good as it gets and really glad they are available. Thanks for the effort by everyone involved. It will be summer before I get around to using them but it is one less detail to work out.
