I've removed several seats from mopars in the past but this one has stumped me. FSM says the rear seat cushion (not the back part) is attached to the floor in two places. Removing pesky seats has always been relatively easy for me. After the front seats were out, I would put my back up to the dash, stretch out my legs until my feet touch on either side of the tunnell, and give a quick push. Not this time. The 69 Valiant has left me fristrated. What could I be doing wrong?

Have someone light sit on the rear seat while you shove it rearwards with your feet. The front bar is probably catching on the floor hook.

I've ran into a rustgrime locked mounting points--- ie-- both points were locked in place by rust or dirt. I solved this by using a rubber mallet & tapped(or harder depending) the seat approx where the mounting points are. You will see the seat break the stuck area & then remove as before---

I used a hydraulic bottle jack.............

1) Wrap some scrap pieces of 2x4's with a towel(s).
2) Place 2x4 at bottom of rear seat where the hook is
3) Place other 2x4 against rear of front seat (I have front bench which may make it easier)
4) Place jack between 2x4s
5) extend jack until bottom of rear seat is pushed in far enough to clear hook
6) lift seat (be prepared for jack and 2x4s to drop out)
7) repeat on other side

note: you can figure out where the hooks are by sliding a ruler under the rear seat..........

Thanks for all the responses. I got side-tracked for awhile this evening. Have two phillips screws in sill plate (driver's side) rounded out. Trying to get that out of the interior so the rest of the old carpet in the front can be removed. Only good thing about this whole project is the $1.54 in change I have uncovered. I am happy to report that the floors in the car look brand new...wow. I'm going to order carpet tomorrow. I think the color I have is olive green. Too dark for plain green. New will be seat covers. The ones on the seats are clearly original, but are badly in need of replacement. I like the combination of vinyl and cloth. The last Valiant I owned had vinyl throughout and without AC it made for a "touch and go" ride.

I Think That The Intact Floor Boards Are A Good Thing... Especially Since A New Set Costs More Than $1.54
