stopping is good, at the top of the list of the best things in life. i've done some looking and found a kit on line made in portland, oregon. the price is around $ 750 and i was wondering if there is an ez junk yard swap out there for less $ if not more trouble...

Maybe try Moparts.com in the Q&A section or the truck and van forum.

Welcome!

I talked to the guys at Scarebird about this a while back. They didn't have a solution then, but maybe things have changed. They were willing to work with me on a prototype, but needed an axle and spindles to work with and I needed to drive my van.
Have you joined the a-100 group over at yahoo? I know there is an option that uses (I think) Dakota rotors and genuine Generic Motors calipers. The plate must be fabbed also. There are patterns in the photo section of the site to help you with this. I'm pretty sure if you have a factory swaybar you'll have to toss it since it will bw in the way of the brakes and you need 11" drum spindles. Kinda funny to get rid of a part that improves handling for one that improves braking. :?
