hello all! !
i'm seeking wisdom.
i have a '68 A108. STOCK!
1 bbl holley, points, single exhaust, 3 speed.
i already have the super 6 intake and carb. i'm leaning towards headers but am aware of the Dutra Duals. i dont think heat will be very much needed since i'm in So Cal. my question. . . . .forgetiing that i already have the 2bbl here, would i get better perfomance/fuel economy out of the 2bbl or 2 1 bbl's on the Offy manifold? if the 2 1bbl's, what about mounting 2 2bbl's on that Offy manifold? i think the biggest hassle would be clearence for the air cleaners if i usedadaptors for 2bbl's onto the Offy 1 bbl throats.

i really like the looks of twin carbs on a slant 6.

thx

DT

Super 6 and electronic ignition will painlessly give you most of what you might get with an Offy/2/1bbl setup. 2 BBDs is a lot for a stock motor.

Visually nobody sees what intake you have on a 108 anyway.

(Sandy....dont discount the plexiglass doghouse!)

Go with the 2bbl ASAP. I was debating the same thing you were. while a 2bbl setup was sitting on a shelf with a 1bbl on the car. throw it on now!!! your car will run better and you wont kick yourself for not doing it sooner.

2bbl, Dutra Duals, carefully curved electronic ignition with HEI upgrade, NAPA Echlin long-tip rotor # MO-3000 with Standard-Bluestreak CH-410X cap and (if you have a '74-down head w/spark plug tubes) NGK ZFR5N plugs gapped to 0.045".

ok, the Zen gods have spoken and i'll start with the 2bbl set up. the double dutra duals look good but i'm leary of the pipe routing out of my engine box. which choice in headers enjoys a better success record for street use?
clifford offers ceramic coating. i've heard pro and con stories about this. what is the consencus here?

u say the 2bbl will deliver"most" of what a 2 carb set up offers. what will be omitted?

yeah, i know that nobody will see a twin carb rig in an A body van. that is untill I show 'em! ! !
but, isnt that the way it is in a sedan, too?

The "OOoooooo" factor when someone looks in your engine bay, and the hassle of synchronizing 2 carbs that were never made for tandem use

Unless you can find a fairly cheap set of headers used then I'd avoid it for a street car. The dutra duals will provide all that is needed for pretty much anything but the race cars in my opinion. I got them for the wow factor more than anything I guess (I just kinda wanted them) but its a fun car that is only driven when I feel like it or down a track for kicks. I'd not put them on a daily driver, though my dad has had them on his daily driver since he rolled his Dart Sport off the lot new in '74. He never had a problem going without carb heat even during the fairly cold Kansas winters.

Different strokes for different folks.

Carb synchronizing is a pain. especially on a daily driver. Dutra duals are very nice. I think they are better looking then headers anyway. top quality manifold, it will outlast anything.
