hello all im building a traditional hotrod out of a 53 cambridge,
i have access to a 77 volare with a 225/4speed combo or a known good 6/automatic out of a 67 coronet.
i want the 4 speed as ill be drivung alot out of state, it is my understanding that the 77 flywheel cannot be used with the 67 engine correct.
other than that everything will be made to fit the car so im not worried about fitment otherwise, im more concearned where im going to get a flywheel to work and if anyone is selling any hi performance parts because id like to make it "thump" a bit.
any help would be greatly apreciated, steve

the 77 fly should have a larger center ring than the 67.
77 should have a OD of 2.15"
67 should have a OD of 1.95"

Swap in a later crank (68 up to 76) into the engine, or find a later engine.
Suppose that a mach. shop could make a spacer ring? to make up the
.20 differance...

If I read the right info..... the 66 and earlier fly should work, but 67 will
not (one year only thing?)....
Was not even thinking of that one earlier.....

Hmm I think you are thinking of automatics.......the 77 flywheel will fit on but one bolthole will be out of line. I seem to remember some lunatic (Dennis Schumers) just used a rat tail file (in Canada we use a chainsaw file) to hog it out till it fit.

I have an early flywheel some where. If you were to walk here I might be able to find it before you got here.........

http://slantsix.org/articles/4-speeds/O ... speed1.htm

Quote from this is what I was talking about (link above).
""For bell housing clearance reasons, the small 124 tooth flywheel must be used on both the 1964-66 bell housing and the 1975-81 Overdrive A-833 bell housing. Larger 130 tooth and 143 tooth flywheels do not fit these bell housings (the starter will not engage ring teeth). When locating a flywheel, be sure that the center hole matches your crank's register hub. A 1963-67 flywheel must be used with a 1963-67 crank and a later flywheel must be used with a later crank. (Measure your crankshaft hub.)""

Guess that as long as it is a 124 tooth flywheel 67 slant or earlier it should work in this case........

is it me or do i get more confused everytime someone replies lol.
i was going to use the 225 out of the 77 volare wagon but someone has taken the intake and i dunno if it even runs. so ill suffer with trying to get the correct flywheel and get it together besides the car needs pedals and brakes and interior before i can drive it anyhow lol. ive got all the crap i need for a v8 but i have no v8 other than my 79 2 door diplomat which by the way ill probably be selling before too long if anyone is interested.
