Post subject: fuel pump / 64 dart

was going to replace fuel pump but every aftermarket one has the fitting opposite of the one on the car. The one on the car has the threaded fitting to the carb on the right side the replacements have the fitting on the left, so what am I missing , why are they opposite ?
