I'd like to use a new damper. Where are we all getting them from? Or where is the best place to get them? Mines a 74 model.

Do you want a "race" type or "stock" one?

their is a company in MD here that rebuilds them and they also sell new units they claim to have one for every car ever made ( they did stock one for my brothers amc eagle he was very happy with the quality )I was looking into this myself a while ago but I decided to just build a new engine instead of fixing all the little stuff that was bad with mine so I put that on the back burner I will find them again and post their info

man, do I like this forum...

I was about to ask the same.

My question is slightly different: I have a stock stroke 198 rods forged pistons (89.32 mm) buildup, heart shaped combustion chambers, 11:1 static compression ratio, will run on premium pump gas according to my calculations, I paln to turn 5900 rpm - limiting it to 6k. What kind of balancer would you guys recommend and where I can get that (assuming it would be a better than stock unit) has anyone looked into using RB balancers? measures are pretty close... and there's a lot of nice balancers for RB readily avalible.

Got the damper from damper dudes and looks good to me. Removed the rear pulley from the orignal damper and its a good thing I got a "new" damper, The rubber on the back side looks 5 times worse than the front side. New damper also had been turned down a bit and a sleave installed at oil seal contact point. Looks good.

I turn my motor 6200 or so on spray. I have never had anything but a stock type damper on it. I have one from Damper Dudes on it now and it is fine. (225 crank, 198 rod, 2.2 KB piston)

We checked the timing mark on it with a degree wheel and it was dead on too. :D
